"We visited Henry J Beans on a Saturday as part of a hen night, around 8pm, which is probably the worst time to go, as it is the busiest. On arrival we had to look for a member of staff to ask where our table was that we had booked. Upon finding the table, we found that it was to seat 11 and not 14, which is what we had originally booked over the phone, although it had been nicely decorated with balloons and confetti, so this was a lovely touch which made up for the mistake. We were told when we sat down that certain dishes were not available but they would offer alternatives. For example, there was no classic burgers so instead they offered steak burgers. Some of our party had the set menu (£16 for a starter, main and a cocktail), they ordered a dish which was unavailable, so they were instead invited to choose a dish from the main a la carte menu. They chose the ribs which came to nearly £12 alone. This is what I had, so I was wishing I'd have ordered the set menu as well if I'd got the starter and a cocktail also for just another £4. The food portions were absolutely huge, they kept us going all night on our big session around Manchester's clubs that evening! My ribs were cooked to perfection, the meat fell off the bone, gorgeous. This came with chips and salad, really nice. I would recommend Henry J Beans on a Saturday for a big group outing but I'm sure through the week it is quiet enough to enjoy a meal with your partner or a smaller group. Apparently Henry J Beans in the Printworks also has a pole by the DJ box, which, when you get on it, you are filmed and the projection is on a big screen there. I didn't see this but it sounds like fun and a few of our hen night enjoyed having a little spin." - natalie l, manchester (29/7/09 visited on a saturday evening) |
