| "Croma looks great and I liked the nice bar area while we waited a short time for a table. The pizzas looked okay and the menu is dominated by them, and I'd advise you to go down that road if you visit as it's clearly their focus based upon the quantity and design of my Black Pudding & Chorizo starter. It could have been baked on a tray and placed into the dish, rather than baked inside the dish, resulting in lots of unattractive dirty marks around the side where the oil had splashed.
The chicken on my main was dry also, given that it was just chucked on top it could have been cooked separately (and properly). The pasta was also dry, the mushrooms and goat cheese were not made into a sauce, but rather just thrown in and mixed about a bit. The food was on the whole a little lazily done and unfortunately not very nice.
We ordered our desserts before the table next to us had even finished their mains, yet they still got their desserts first, despite there only being two of us and five of them. When we enquired, we were told that 'there was a bit of a queue' and the order finally arrived via a different waitress to the one we started with, who up until then had been great. To top it all off, the 10 year anniversary leaflet they gave us had a crusty tomato sauce stain on it." - james riches, manchester ~ NEW MEMBER ~ 8/11/10 (visited on a Saturday evening) |
| "Croma has been a favourite amongst Mancunian diners for many years and it's not hard to see why - the quality of their pizzas are up there amongst the best in town, yet their prices are certainly one of the cheapest! Nestled alongside the town hall on the same tiny street that also boasts Piccolino and Lime, Croma's city centre branch is a modern, inviting restaurant that is nearly always bustling with life. We visited on our way back from the Manchester Food & Drink at the ill-fated Spinningfields, which it has to be said, had attracted far less customers than Croma had pulled in on this Tuesday lunchtime. With 20 pizzas to choose from, starting at a bargain £4.65, it gave us welcome relief from the news that our RBS shares had plummeted earlier that morning as the stock market went into free fall. Come to think of it, all the dishes at Croma are an inviting escape from the credit crunch; of the 4 pasta dishes on offer, Cannelloni and Lasagne cost only £6.60 a dish, whilst the excellent Pizza Anatra (Peking Duck pizza) we opted for, was the most expensive item on the menu at a mere £7.75. Quality is certainly not compromised however and we would certainly return regardless of price." - restaurants of manchester 8/10/08 (visited on a tuesday lunch)
