It was only a matter of days ago when iconic Manchester bar and eatery Room closed its doors for business, bringing an end to one of the best, not to mention a unique experience, hosted in one of the grandest rooms to ever host any bar or restaurant in the city. Fear not though, as another local icon in Living Ventures has announced its has acquisition of the site to launch another guise of its Australasia Bar and Garden brand.
Australasia Bar and Garden offers a taste of Pan Asia via food and drinks inspired by its big brother; Australasia. The estimated launch date is Q4 2015, so is certain to be one of the highlights of Manchester's openings schedule in 2015.
Manchester’s ultimate luxury Italian, Rosso has been nominated in this year’s Eat Drink Sleep Awards. The opulent and star-studded restaurant on King Street has been shortlisted for Best Premium Dining.
As voted for by the public, the Eat Drink Sleep Awards recognise, commend and celebrate the very best restaurants, bars, hotels, pubs and venues within the city of Manchester. There are eight categories in total.
Customers can now vote for their favourite venues in the Eat Drink Sleep Awards. Voting closes at 5pm on the 6th February. The award winners will be announced at a dazzling Black Tie Gala Dinner at the Piccadilly Mercure Hotel at 7pm on Monday March 9th.

This February Half Term, The Lowry Outlet, MediaCityUK will host three days of family friendly fun, with a distinctive farmyard feel at its Outlet shopping and leisure complex, starring none other than farm animal favourite, Peppa Pig.
To celebrate the launch of Peppa Pig’s latest blockbuster ‘Peppa Pig and the Golden Boots’, showing at the on-site VUE cinema, Peppa will be appearing in centre on 17th, 18th and 19th February, with the opportunity for children to meet and greet the most infamous Pig of our time.

The Organisers of the popular Great British Food Festivals are looking for the best of local and regional producers to join their events in 2015.
The events are held at stunning venues around the midlands and north, all in the grounds of historic houses like Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire and Harewood House in Yorkshire – They have events in Lancashire, Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Cumbria, Warwickshire and Cheshire.
The recipe for the festivals, well take over 80 top local producers, a big serving of stunning hot food, real ale and wine bars, add a dash of craft and gift stalls, lots of activities and rides for the kids, top chef demos from the likes of Great British Bake Off Stars and stir in a cake competition and the popular Men V’s Food, with lashings of excellent live music and mix together to make a lovely foodie family day out.

After months of speculation Mary-Ellen McTague has confirmed that Aumbry has closed for good. The Prestwich fine dining restaurant originally closed temporally last summer to undergo refurbishment will not be reopening due to no deal being reached over the lease renewal.
When the restaurant closed in the Summer Mary-Ellen opened pop up 4244 in the northern quarter which has been as expected a great success and adds to the excitement of the Aumbry teams new adventure which is expected to open in Spring 2015 in the City Centre although not called Aumbry.

Information is currently thin on the ground, but the corporate logo and name suggests some kind of Japanese connection. Upscale junk food purveyor Solita has released what it is calling the Manchester wheel; a burger containing 8000 calories, and is to serve 'up to 6 people'. The giant burger contains 1KG of beef, 12 cheese slices and 8 rashers of bacon, along with a litre of creamy sauce, all placed on a specially made seeded burger bun. Mary-Ellen McTague has announced her imminent return to Prestwich after earlier this month declaring that the award winning Aumbry Restaurant would not be reopening. The return will see Mary-Ellen offering high quality bistro style food from Friday 23rd January at local favourite cocktail bar Cuckoo. Hot on the heels of Iberica launching in Manchester, London steak restaurant Hawksmoor has confirmed it will be opening in The Courthouse Deansgate on Thursday March 5th. This will be Hawksmoor's first venture outside of London. Northern diners will be in their element at the new venue and can expect large portions of ‘proper’ food with classics such as Yorkshire pudding starters and steak mains, along with what Hawksmoor claim to be the finest roast beef. _ 19 Jan 2015
The lease on the site which was earmarked for Mr Pilling's Roast and Oyster Bar, on Deansgate just next to Spinningfields, has been put on the market ahead of the venture even launching. Steve Pilling of Damson fame, suggested this earlier in the week that the arrival of big hitting chain Hawksmoor, was an influence in this decision, since their target audience is very similar to the one pencilled in for Mr Pilling's. The annual lease is £130k, and the lease runs for 25 years. Based on the interest in the site before the arrival of Hawksmoor and the also neighbouring Homemade Burger Co, it seems inevitable that another tenant will snap up this lease pretty quickly. _ 16 Jan 2015
18 year old Shahida Shahid has tragically died on Monday 12th Jan after suffering what is suspected as an allergic reaction to a meal eat at the Great Northern Warehouse branch of Almost Famous on Friday 9th January. Greater Manchester Police and the Food Standards Agency are conducting a joint investigation, although any link to the allergy being exacerbated by food consumed in the restaurant, is currently unconfirmed. _ 14 Jan 2015

Around 10 fire engines were called to tackle a blaze in Alberts Square which is believed to have originated in the kitchens of Rajdoot Indian restaurant, which effected service other buildings including The State Bank of India and Tampopo Restaurant in Carlton House for the rest of the day. Without warning to customers or staff (it seems), Room Restaurant has closed down. The once popular restaurant and bar in the striking former reform club at the top of King Street closed for business on Monday 12 th January 2015, with staff only finding out when they turned up for work. Both the telephone lines and website have been disabled. The reasons for closure are unknown but over the past few months stalwart staff had left and it became apparent that money was not being spent on the venue. _ 13 Jan 2015
February in Manchester will see the opening of Filthy Cow. The Burger restaurant claims that it will satisfy diners ‘wildest meat fantasies’. Behind the ‘farmyard-industrial crossed with Soho neon’ is 23 year old Jordan Gallimore who hopes to change the face of Manchester dining.
