Dimitris Tapas Bar & Taverna Manchester - reader comments |
"My girlfriend and I were shocked and appalled by our treatment by the manager of Dmitri's that we decided to leave. We booked a table for 8pm only for us still to be waiting at the cramped bar till 8.20pm, whilst people were walking off the street and getting tables without having booked. When I rightly queried this, I received a tirade of abuse which would have been more accustomed at a local derby football match. The abuse upset my girlfriend and spoilt a romantic evening. I will avoid Dimitri's like the plague, they don't deserve to make any money with the level of service they offer." - Craig, Preston - NEW MEMBER (28/9/09 visited on a Friday evening)

"I have been to Dimitri's before during the past 10 years and every visit has got worse. The first visit was excellent and the last will be memorable for rudeness, bad service, trying to change our table and overcharging to boot. I will never go back." - Don Atkinson, Stockport - NEW MEMBER (9/7/09 visited on a Bank Holiday Monday afternoon)

"Dimitris is overrated, very dear for what you got. Check your bill as we didn't until it was too late. We are sure we paid for items we did not get." - andy, manchester 3/11/08 (visited on a saturday evening)

"We didn't even stay to order food at Dimitris. First of all they were very unwelcoming and told us to go to the bar without even telling us where it was. Secondly, the barman seemed to make a point of serving everyone sitting at the bar before me, and I thought I heard him making a comment to them that they took priority over me. The waiter got impatient when he was leading us through to our table. Finally, he pointed out our table with the words "I'll need the table back at half nine" (about an hour and a half after we had sat down). I felt so unwelcome that we walked out without ordering. Their website had led us to believe that Mr Dimitri would extend the warmest of greetings whilst playing his guitar. Sadly the reality was very different." - ben, manchester 30/8/08 (visited on a saturday evening)

"Dimitris is an old unusual venue in an old arcade which I guess could be cold in winter, but this sort of added to the ambience. The food was excellent - great choice and good value for money." - steph m, scarborough 7/8/08 (visited on a sunday evening)
